The North Woods of Minnesota offers a blend of beautiful scenery and great fishing.

Minnesota.
A wild place, a wild portion of the United States.
Many people regard Minnesota as being part of the Midwest, but yet ecologically it has a feel unique to its very own.
I pulled off of a dirt logging road deep within a National Forest to access a trailhead. After slipping on my waders and equipping myself with a fly rod, I ventured on. Red Pine and Birch nearly choked the trail I was following out of existence.

After a short hike, I reached a decently sized river. The water was dark, tannin stained, and smooth boulders protruded out from the banks.
Small pockets of slack water formed behind these boulders and I immediately realized them to be potential holding places for wary Brook Trout.

A stimulator coated in Gink along with powder floatant was my fly presentation of choice.
Looping my fly line over my far shoulder, I laid out an accurate cast into a foamy pocket.
The foam immediately erupted with the stimulator disappearing underwater.
A swift hook set, followed by a brief fight, produced a stunning North Woods Brook Trout.

Minnesota offers adventure, vast Public Lands to explore, and endless Trout fishing opportunities.

If you want memories, the North Woods knows how to make them.
